Efficiency of Magnetohydrodynamic Wave Generation in Weakly Ionized Atmospheres

Abstract The generation of Alfvén and slow magnetoacoustic waves in weakly ionized atmospheres by excitation the charges-only component two-fluid (charge neutral) plasma is shown to be more or less efficient depending on energy fraction initially allocated three stationary flow differential modes, which characterize inter-species drift. This explained via detailed analysis full 10-dimensional spectral description linear magnetohydrodynamics. Excitation velocity charges only found very inefficient, accord with previous results, while magnetic field perturbation alone highly efficient. All 10 eigenvalues eigenvectors are presented analytically high collision frequency regime.
